Diabolical! Close Half the Streets, Ticket the Other Half

Parking EnforcementYOU HAVE TO give credit to the City of Los Angeles. If ever there were an unbeatable revenue model, this would be it. First, close half the streets in the neighborhood for "slurry" coating. Force cars to squeeze onto the other half of the streets, most of which happen to have parking restrictions for street-sweeping. Then, start writing dozens of $58 parking tickets. I swear I could see a gleam in the eye of the parking enforcement guy. (The best part? 8:30am and not a slurry truck in sight.)

they got me this way a few weeks ago. I park on the side of the street with 2 hour restrictions during the day because the other side is street sweeping, then get a ticket, for parking more than 2 hours. In front of my house. So miserable.

Beware the slurry zone. When they did this in Echo Park (where we don't have street cleaning days, but that's another issue) I carefully moved the car two blocks away, just beyond the postings for slurrying. I returned the next morning to discover they had moved the warning sign five feet further... and ticketed my car!

the city just paved my street in Monterey Hills, and it only took 6 weeks for what they said would take 3 days! pray it doesn't rain, or that some other project doesn't come up. i called the city and complained about the parking situation and they said that parking enforcement CANNOT ISSUE A TICKET UNLESS THE SURFACING EQUIPMENT IS PRESENT, ALONG WITH THE WORKERS. if you see parking enforcement, and no equipment, or they are not with the equipment, you can call the city or fight the ticket. call 311 and ask for the streets department to confirm this.

I am OUTRAGED by this! I will be contesting the ticket I got.

I recall 5 years ago they did this but they actually SHOWED UP and paved the street. It's lunacy what they've done and they'll be hearing from me.
