FOR 2 HOURS in the middle of the night, from midnight to 2:00 a.m. this morning, an LAPD helicopter circled South Atwater Village near Glendale Blvd. and Garden Avenue. I've seen nothing about it on TV or in any other news outlets, so this first-hand report from a Newbie reader is an exclusive: Wow. We heard the megaphone from about half a mile away. What's the full story, LAPD? Chasing those guys out of Drew Street and into Atwater Village?"...I have grown up in Atwater my entire 20 years. I have seen crime and lived through some drivebys back when it was a bit more common in Atwater. Today however, at midnight, may have been, for my family, the largest breach in our property. |

Hi Newbie,
The Atwater Village Neighborhood Council Message Board indicated that this happened all south of Glendale Boulevard. Or is that where the suspects were chased. . . ?
You're right! I'm fixing the post.
we saw the chopper. It's always unsettling when the light actually does circle your yard...but to hear the rustling, well, that ain't good.
I live on Larga Ave and they (criminals and/or police?) also entered my backyard.
This is just sad and ridiculous. I live a few streets away, this kept us up for hours and is truly unsettling.
I wonder if these were yet another in the thousands of illegal alien gang members with no regard for anyone, anything.
What is also baffling is that the local news in the morning, has absolutely NOTHING to say about this, but finds time for so many "celebrity" stories, etc.
Love this city and love this community, been in and around this area all of my life. The sadness I feel at what's happening is something I have no words for. I will always do what I can for this place, but al of the people need to vote in March - VOTE OUT VILLARAIGOSA - and get someone in that cares about the city, not about his future in politics. Please read, listen and watch all you can about the other candidates and VOTE, VOTE, VOTE.
y'all need to be on twitter:)
thanks for the updates... i covered my head with my pillow and started having flashbacks to my old apt. in hollywood. i do not miss those sounds...
I like to tell people that hearing police helicopters is actually a good thing. At least it means the cops are after the bad guys. Dead silence? That's what sometimes worries me.
