FROM TODAY'S Los Angeles Times: "The 4-year-old Atwater Village farmers market, which runs on Sunday mornings in a bank parking lot, has escaped a threat of eviction, a [Wells Fargo] bank spokeswoman says ... The bank had some complaints about homeless people who were drawn to the Glendale Boulevard site and about its upkeep. Bank and market representatives, along with someone from LA City Councilman Eric Garcetti's office, have a meeting scheduled next week to try to negotiate a solution." |

Great news! I blogged and told people at City Hall. Plus you have great residents that pushed to save this! Go Atwater! I miss living near you guys!
yay!!!!!!!!!!
Woo-Hoo!! Let's celebrate with some BBQ! *evil grin*
just wondering... regarding the assertions made by the bank in the LA Times piece that part of the reason for considering the eviction was as a result of some resident complaints about "homeless" being attracted to the area during the market and the fact that the vendors left a mess behind them each sunday... does anyone in the know feel the bank as a point at all or was this just reaching at straws to make themselves look better in what was becoming a public relations nightmare for them? just wondering.
Good question. But apparently they weren't really that concerned.
