Confirmed! Tommy's Burgers Out, Sepan Chicken In

Sepan Chicken SignTHANKS TO A crappy drive-by cell-phone photo and some investigative work by Eater LA, we can confirm that the former Tommy's Char-Broiled Burgers, 3324 Glendale Blvd., is now something called Sepan Chicken. Someone should go try it and tell us about it. And see if you can find out if it has anything to do with Sepan Banquet Hall up the street.

I feel bad for Tommy's if it is a change. They always had decent food. I just never really felt motivated to actually go there. I ate at Vince's or Foster's more often due to geography and when I was driving, I tended to head to Rick's or Giamella's. That little strip mall can be really successful with a good anchor.

Jackieyo, I think you may be pleased. I went tonight, and the new menu was up, and it looked EXACTLY like a Zankou Chicken rip-off. No telling if it'll be as good or not, since they were still working off the old menu -- the guy said the new Zankou-y one starts on Monday...

so... what does the community think? is this change a good thing (potentially) or was tommy's an establishment that will be missed?

please please please tell me they have falafel if they're like zankou chicken!!!
i only went to tommy's a few times as i haven't eaten meat in 24 years. i tried to get the breakfast deal that was touted on the menu left on my door every other day. not only was the price NOT the deal on the tommy's menu - but they had specific "breakfast hours".
anyhow - back to the falafel. it's not so much that i'm a vegetarian, but having grown up in toledo, ohio (40 minutes from detroit, both cities have large arabic communities) - mom & pop arabic restaurants were almost as common as mom & pop mexican restaurants in l.a. god, do i miss getting good falafel easily.
funny thing is - 2 years ago, where the Filipino market once was, they were getting that space ready to open an arabic restaurant. i was soooo exicted! and then...a few weeks later...it was gone, and the "for lease" sign was back up. i complained about this for almost 2 years, until a neighbor said a few months ago, "oh, that was a movie shoot". urgh, darn you hollywood!
well, the whole point of this babbling comment is: i'm really not too sad to see tommy's go. except, do the employees go to? that's not cool. and do they have falafel and/or meatless options?
